“Holy Spirit” - Our Intimate Friend- Sermon From 14/06/2026

The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity, fully God and equal with the Father and the Son. He is not an impersonal force or influence but a living Person who possesses intelligence, will, emotions, and life. Scripture shows that He teaches, guides, comforts, convicts of sin, prays for believers, empowers ministry, and gives spiritual gifts according to His will. Because He is personal, believers can obey Him, grieve Him, and enjoy a close relationship with Him.

The deity of the Holy Spirit is demonstrated throughout Scripture. He is identified with God and Jehovah, possesses divine attributes such as omniscience, omnipresence, omnipotence, holiness, and eternity, and performs works that only God can do, including creation, regeneration, and sanctification. He is also presented alongside the Father and the Son with equal honour, confirming His place within the Trinity.

The Bible uses many titles to describe the Holy Spirit, including Spirit of God, Spirit of Christ, Spirit of Truth, Spirit of Life, Spirit of Wisdom, Holy Spirit, and Eternal Spirit. These titles reveal His character, relationship with God, and ministry in the lives of believers. He also works as the Spirit of Adoption, assuring Christians that they belong to God's family.

Several symbols illustrate His work, including the dove (peace and gentleness), fire (purification), oil (anointing and empowerment), water (life and cleansing), wind (God's invisible power), clothing (God's power upon believers), and the seal (security and ownership).

The Holy Spirit permanently indwells every believer, providing guidance, wisdom, strength, and spiritual growth. Rather than depending on human ability, Christians are called to rely on the Holy Spirit in every area of life. Through His presence, believers are equipped to live holy lives, serve God faithfully, understand His Word, and reflect the character of Christ.
